
Fahy, Carlino Have Mixed Results On Links Wednesday

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University men's golf senior-to-be James Fahy and junior to-be Sean Carlino had mixed results on the golf course Wednesday.
Fahy lost to Will Brink 2 and 1 in their round of 32 match play Wednesday at the Pacific Northwest Golf Association Men's Amateur being held at Palouse Ridge Golf Course in Pullman, Wash., while Carlino made the cut for the final two rounds of the Investors Group Ontario Amateur Championship being played at The Club at North Halton in Georgetown, Ontario.
Fahy, who entered match play as the 12th seed, grabbed the early lead on the first hole and maintained the 1 up advantage through five holes. Brink, the 44th seed, squared the match on the sixth hole then won the ninth, 10th and 11th holes to go 3 up. Fahy cut the deficit to 2 up on the 13th and lost the 14th to fall three holes behind. Fahy, a native of Vancouver, British Columbia, won the 15th and 16th holes to cut Brink's lead to 1 up. Brink put the match away on the 17th hole.
Carlino, from Hamilton, Ontario, fired rounds of 73-73 over the par 71, 6,532-yard course. His 36-hole total of 146 left him tied for 27th entering Thursday's play. He had 24 pars and four birdies through the first two rounds.
Taylor Pendrith of Richmond Hill, Ontario, is the 36-hole leader at 142.
