KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Gonzaga women’s and men’s soccer programs both received the 2014-15 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) College Team Academic Award.
The NSCAA annually recognizes college and high school soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom, in addition to their work on the field. A total of 874 soccer teams (309 men, 563 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA College Team Academic Award for the 2014-15 academic year.
Of that total, 219 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized. Two West Coast Conference institutions – Gonzaga and Saint Mary’s – placed both its men’s and women’s squads on the list.
Gonzaga’s women’s soccer team earned the award for the seventh consecutive season, posting a 3.39 GPA over the 2014-15 school year. The Bulldogs boasted the best GPA among WCC women’s and men’s programs.
On the men’ side, the Zags were recognized by the NSCAA for the 13th consecutive season, tied for the sixth-longest stretch among all collegiate men’s soccer programs. They posted a collective 3.17 GPA.
