SUNDAY FUN-DAY:
- Gonzaga played to a 2-2 double overtime draw with 25th-ranked Washington Sunday.
- All four goals came within a 23-minute span in the second half, with the Zags scoring the first two.
- The Zags (1-4-4) tied a nationally-ranked opponent for the third time in program history (73 contests).
- That marks two straight seasons that the Bulldogs have tied a ranked team. Last year GU played to a 1-1 draw with No. 11 Pepperdine in Spokane.
- In the 13 all-time meetings between the teams, it was the first draw, and only the second time GU has not lost.
WELCOME TO THE TOP FIVE:
- In the first half Sunday, Christie Tombari moved into the program's top five in career total saves.
- She is now in sole possession of fourth all-time on the Gonzaga career saves list, 74 saves away from third.
- The redshirt junior has made 212 saves while at GU. She has 44 saves already this season.
- She is third all-time with a 1.42 goals against average.
- Her 68 allowed goals in her career is also fourth on the program's all-time career list.
HUSKY STOPPER:
- Christie Tombari had a historic day in the GU net against Washington Sunday. She finished the match with a season-high 11 saves.
- Her 11 saves were the most since she made 13 at Santa Clara in 2013. It was also the second-highest output in the West Coast Conference so far this season.
A GOOD START IS NEEDED:
- Gonzaga has not lost this season when it has scored first, going 1-0-2 in those games. Conversely, the Zags are 0-4-2 when their opponent scores first.
- GU is also 0-4-0 when it trails at halftime and 1-0-4 when it is tied at half. The Bulldogs have not led at half yet.
RISING TO THE TOP:
- Karley Baggerly's five goals this season currently leads the West Coast Conference.
- She is second in the WCC averaging 1.22 points per game and second averaging 3.44 shots per game.
- Baggerly is one shot away from entering the career top 10 in program history, currently with 102 shots taken.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS:
- Memphis dropped its first home game of the season Sunday in a 2-1 overtime loss to Ole Miss.
- After starting 4-1-1, the Tigers have lost two straight games 2-1.
- Memphis has finished with one goal in every game except its 4-3 double overtime win over Idaho.
- The Tigers are being outscored 13-11 this season, but have outshot opponents, 117-78, which is an average of 14.6-9.8 per game.
- Valerie Sanderson and Elizabeth Woerner have both scored a team-high three goals so far this season.
- Sanderson leads the team with eight points, adding two assists.
- Marie Levasseur has added six points on two goals and two assists.
- That trio has combined for 64 of the team's 117 shots.
- Sanderson was named preseason All-American Athletic Conference. The junior has scored 33 goals in her three-year career at Memphis.
- Senior Diamond Simpson was tabbed as the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year in the AAC after she was named a first-team All-Conference player as well as an NSCAA All-Region Second Team member last season.
- Mary Bard-Martel has played every minute in the net for the Tigers this season.
- The experienced junior has made 22 saves this season with a .629 percentage.
FREE SOCCER:
- Out of the nine matches Gonzaga has played this season, five have gone to overtime.
- Four of the five matches went the complete 110 minutes, ending in ties.
- In comparison, GU played three overtime contests last season, four in 2013 and two in 2012.
