SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Gonzaga men's rowing team earned a victory over the University of Puget Sound on Saturday morning at Silver Lake, just outside of Spokane, Wash.
"The guys put together a good race with a slightly different line up today," head coach Dan Gehn said. "We are looking forward to getting several weeks of training without racing in before we go to Philly for the Kerr Cup."
In the lone race of the day, Gonzaga's lineup of Max Baker, Walker Capra-Smith, Cole Garcia, Alex Yuska, Zach Umsted, Bryce Dillon, Cinnor Nash, Carsten Beckwith-Strike and Connor Murray pulled away from UPS throughout the race on the way to a 28-second victory.
Gonzaga finished with a time of 6:00.0 against Puget Sound's 6:28.75. The conditions for the 2,000-meter race included a 6-7 MPH quartering tailwind.
The Gonzaga men's rowing team will now have a lengthy break from competition, returning on April 16 in Philadelphia, Pa., for the Kerr Cup.
