ZAGS SPLIT SQUADS AND HEAD TO THREE MEETS:
- The Gonzaga women's and men's track programs will send three groups to meets in California and Spokane.
- The Zags return to the Stanford Invitational, while making their debut at the Legends Distance Carnival at UCLA.
- GU will also send a contingent to the 11th annual Sam Adams Classic at Whitworth University.
ABOUT THE MEET:
- The UCLA track and field team will host its busiest weekend of the season as the Legends Invitational and the Legends Distance Carnival will be held on the oval inside Drake Stadium.
- The Distance Carnival is a single-day meet on Friday.
- More than 2,500 athletes -- open competitors, entrants from 110 colleges and universities, plus high schools -- will converge on Cobb Track and Angell Field on Friday and Saturday for the 41st Stanford Invitational.
- Washington State, Idaho, Eastern Washington, Gonzaga, Great Falls, Spokane Community College and Lewis-Clark State will compete at the Sam Adams Classic.
LAST YEAR AT THE MEET:
- At Stanford, Willie Milam raced to a 13:53.74 finish in the 5,000 meters, while Jessica Mildes raced to a 33:40.82 in the 10,000 meters. Both were school records.
- At the Sam Adams Classic, the Zags swept the top five spots of the men's 5,000 meters. Max Kaderabek topped the field with a time of 15:09.19. Jack Pearce held off teammate Colin O'Neil for second place.
- The top three spots in the men's 1,500 meters were represented by Gonzaga. Ian Goldizen, running unattached, won the event with a time of 3:58.40. Graham Wendle (4:05.65) came in fourth.
- Kellen Manley led second, third, and fourth place finishes for GU in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase.
- In the women's 1,500 meters, Katy Culver placed first with a time of 4:44.78.
