EUGENE, Ore. -- The Gonzaga men's golf team is in 15th place following the first two rounds of the 28th annual Duck Invitational at the Eugene Country Club.
Nick Nolan is tied for 36th place at six-over (148). The freshman opened with an even-par round of 71, before a 77 (+6) in the second round. He was tied for 13th place after the first 18 holes, which included an eagle. Nolan started Round 2 on the 10th hole and was even-par after the first nine holes.
Ryan Gaske and David Ganz are tied for 60th at nine-over (151). Gaske carded a 76 (+5) in the first round and a 75 (+4) in the second round. Ganz had 13 pars in Round 2, finishing at six-over (+6), after a 74 (+3) in the first round.
Chris Mogg (tied 80th) and Tyler Munetake (87th) are 16-over (158) and 24-over (166).
The Zags totaled a 297 (+13) in Round 1, followed by a 311 (+27) in the second round.
"The weather held for most of the day with just a few rain showers," GU Head Coach Robert Gray said. "The course played very difficult with very wet conditions due to the rain that they've had during the winter. We took 14 penalty shots in lost balls that plugged in the deep rough. Both Scott (Kim) and I spent most of the day spotting balls, and if we hadn't, then we would've had a lot more lost balls. I had one that landed 20 feet from me and we almost didn't find it. It's the same for everyone, we just need to hit more fairways.
"Despite the tough conditions, the guys kept a great attitude and grinded all day. Our first round had us in 10th but we lost ground in the second. We need to hit more fairways and greens tomorrow to avoid the bigger numbers and give ourselves more birdie opportunities."
Oregon's Sulman Raza has a seven-stroke lead over the rest of the field. He tops the leaderboard at 11-under (131). He carded a 67 (-4) and a 64 (-7) in the first two rounds.
The Ducks have three golfers in the top-five and four in the top-10. Oregon leads the team leaderboard at eight-under (560). Arizona is second at two-over (570).
The third and final round begins at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. Live scoring is available on Golfstats.com.
