SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga women's basketball head coach
Lisa Fortier announced the signing of Kayleigh and Kaylynne Truong to National Letters of Intent for the 2019-20 season Wednesday.
"I have loved watching the Truong twins play from the first time I saw them," Fortier said. "They have such a great floor presence, and they are so interchangeable with the way they each shoot the ball and find open players at the exact right time. They are great in ball screens, which is a big part of what we do here at Gonzaga. These two are high character kids and really good basketball players. We can't wait for them to get here."
Kayleigh Truong
Houston, Texas | Jersey Village High School | 5-8 | Guard
Half of the Truong backcourt, Kayleigh is described as a dynamic playmaker with the ability to weave through defenders with a solid mid-range game that extends beyond-the-arc. She's quick off the bounce and is an unselfish distributor with high court awareness and the ability to penetrate and pass in traffic. ESPN ranks her as the 27
th best point guard in the nation.
Kayleigh is a two-time First Team All-District 17-6 A performer and has twice been named to the All-Greater Houston preseason team: in 2017-18 she was selected All-Greater Houston Third Team and in 2018-19 was selected to the Preseason All-Greater Houston Second Team. She also participated in the 2018 USA Basketball Women's U17 World Cup Team trials in May.

She dished out 1.8 assists per contest while collecting 2.7 steals per game and posted a 1.45 assist-to-turnover ratio.
"Kayleigh has some great natural leadership characteristics that we really look for in point guards," Fortier said. "We trust our point guards to have a hand in running our team, and Leigh will do an excellent job. She will be able to easily move off the ball since she is such a good three-point shooter as well. She has the ability to see the next pass before anyone else in the gym knows that it is coming."
Kaylynne Truong
Houston, Texas | Jersey Village High School | 5-8 | Guard
Kaylynne completes the Truong backcourt and is described as an agile guard that distributes well in transition with a threatening mid-range game that extends beyond-the-arc. She's a great one-on-one creator with the ability to read the defense and deliver the ball with an unselfish persona. Along with her sister, Kaylynne is tied for the 27

Kaylynne is also a two-time First Team All-District 17-6 A performer and has twice been named to the All-Greater Houston preseason team: in 2017-18 she was selected Preseason All-Greater Houston Third Team and 2018-19 she was picked Preseason All-Greater Houston Second Team. Kaylynne dished out 2.6 assists per contest and posted 2.6 steals per game while carrying a 1.37 assist-to-turnover ratio.
"Kaylynne has a great nose for the ball," Fortier said. "It shows up in both rebounds and steals, and she has a knack for creating offense off of her defense. She finds her way to the ball and then knows exactly what to do with it when she gets it. She is also going to be a player who can really stretch the defense with her shooting ability."
The Truong twins on why they chose Gonzaga: We picked GU because it felt right. We felt that when we first arrived in Washington. We felt welcomed, and we were surrounded by great people all around. The university felt like it was big but also that it had a small town feel to it. We love the community Gonzaga has, and we're really excited to play for Gonzaga. We love the coaching staff, and we want to go down in history with y'all. We feel like we can grow closer to God at GU.
