
Hachimura Named WCC Player of the Week

Zag junior earns weekly honor for second time this season
SAN BRUNO, Calif. – For the second time already this season, Gonzaga's Rui Hachimura was named the West Coast Conference men's basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Hachimura was named the Maui Invitational Most Outstanding Player after guiding Gonzaga (6-0) to the tournament's title. He averaged 22.3 points and six rebounds in the Zags' three victories, including an 89-87 thriller over then-top-ranked Duke in the championship game. The junior forward made 54.5 percent of his shots, including a 3-of-6 effort on 3-pointers, and 16 of 23 free throws.
Against Duke, Hachimura scored 20 points, grabbed seven rebounds, dished out five assists and made three blocks. He helped guide the Bulldogs to their first-ever win over a No. 1 ranked team.
Hachimura is second in the conference averaging 22.5 points per game. The Toyama, Japan native, is fifth in the league shooting 59.3 percent from the field. He earned the conference's first weekly honor of the season on Nov. 12.
The Bulldogs host North Dakota State tonight at 6.
