Ruel Ties for 25th in Hawaii

Zags finish in15th place in final event of the fall
LAHAINA, Hawaii – Gonzaga's Matthew Ruel tied for 25th at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic Sunday.
Ruel carded a 67 (-4) in the third and final round on the Royal Ka'anapali Course. It was the lowest round by a Zag so far this season. Ruel made six birdies and 10 pars on Day 3 of the tournament. He finished six-under (207), and climbed the leaderboard from 40th on the last day. The redshirt junior was four-under (3.88) on the course's Par-4 holes.
In the final round of their fall schedule, the Zags were two-over (286). GU placed 15th at four-over (856).
Charlie Magruder tied for 41st at three-under (210). The junior made 14 pars and three birdies, during a two-under (69) third round. He made par on his first 13 holes Sunday. Grant Johnson made 15 pars in the final round and was four-over (75). He finished six-over (219) in a tie for 83rd.
Zach Stocker and Brentt Salas both tied for 105th at 12-over (225). Salas was also four-over (75) on Day 3, while Stocker was six-over (77). Salas made 13 of his team-high 35 pars in the final round.
No. 5 Oklahoma was 21-under (263) in Round 3, and won the team title at 47-under (805). No. 18 Washington was second at 42-under (810).
Georgia's Trent Phillips remained atop the individual leaderboard. He carded a 64 (-7) for the second straight round Sunday and tied with Oklahoma's Quade Cummins at 20-under (193). Cummins was nine-under (62) in the final round, but Phillips took medalist honors after winning on the seventh playoff hole.
The Bulldogs open their spring slate at The Joust tournament hosted by Cal Baptist on Feb. 24-25. The event will be played at the Goose Creek Golf Club in Jurupa Valley, Calif.
