Fourth-ranked Sophie Whittle leads the Zags

- The head-to-head matchup of two ranked teams is the first inside the Stevens Center this season.
- Gonzaga enters the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Rankings at No. 47. They reached as high as No. 41 last season, an all-time program high.
- Sophie Whittle moved from No. 1 to No. 4 in the latest ITA rankings released on Feb. 19.
- Whittle is 7-2 against ranked players this season, including an ITA National Championship with a tournament win at the ITA All-American in the fall. She is a 4-1 in the dual-match season and 18-5 overall on the season.
- Gonzaga returns to the Stevens Center after making a trip to Seattle to take on Washington at the Nordstrom Tennis Center. GU fell in that match 6-1 with Haruna Tsuruta taking a straight-set win on No. 5, 7-5, 6-3.
- Whittle and partner Graciela Rosas, won their doubles match against the No. 35-ranked pair from Washington, 6-2.
- The 15th-ranked Cougars are off to an 8-1 start this season, with ranked wins over SMU (ranked No. 39) and Baylor (42), and Power 5 wins over Michigan State and Purdue.
- Head coach D.J. Gurule is in his 15th season at the helm of the Gonzaga women's tennis program.
