
Zags Track Opens Outdoor Slate with Wins

Gonzaga dominates middle and long distance races
SPOKANE, Wash. — The Gonzaga women's and men's track teams picked up wins at the outdoor season-opening Buc Scoring Invite Saturday. The Zags collected several first place finishes in cold, clear conditions at the Pine Bowl at Whitworth University.
Jordan McPhee won the 800 meters with a time of 2:18.58. Her time ranks just outside the program's all-time Top-10. Felecia Bazie was third in the women's 100 meters at 13.19, and seventh in the 200 meters with a time of 28.16. Brianna Vasquez placed fourth in the 400 meters at 1:02.14.
The Zags swept the top four spots in the women's 1,500 meters, led by Ally Legard's first-place finish. She nearly broke GU's all-time Top-10 with her 4:42.86 finish. Claire Manley was second at 4:47.70, while Claire Gillett (4:48.19) and Aimee Piercy (4:52.04) were third and fourth.
Jenna Rogers and Monica Ripple were the top two finishers in the women's 5,000 meters. Rogers crossed the line at 17:56.56, followed closely by Ripple at 18:13.22. Caroline McCarthy was fourth at 18:32.13.
Gonzaga's quartet of Brianna Vasquez, Morgan Greene, Emma Flood and McPhee placed second in the women's 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:13.00. Lewis-Clark State came in first at 4:06.76.
Stefan Bradley won the men's 800-meter and 1,500-meter races. He finished with a time of 1:58.51 in the 800 meters and 3:54.60. Graham Wendle (3:55.57) and Alex Walde (4:00.33) were second and third in the 1,500 meters.
Eight Zags finished in the Top-10 of the men's 5,000 meters. Jake Perrin was second at 14:46.01, while Brandon Pollard was third at 14:46.49. Peter Hogan (14:50.53) and Scott Kopczynski (14:53.83).
The Bulldogs return to Whitworth for the annual Sam Adams Classic on Thursday and Friday.
