CORNVILLE, Ariz. — Gonzaga women's golf finished third as a team and freshman Quynn Duong earned another Top-5, finishing tied for second at the Red Rocks Invitational in Cornville, Arizona.
Playing the Par 71 Agave Highlands, the Zags entered the day in first as a team, but dropped to third with a 10-over 294. The team finished 11-over combined for the 54 holes, which marks the lowest tournament score of the 2018-19 season. Overall, Gonzaga posted the tournament's best numbers on Par 3s (3.15 stroke average) and Par 5s (4.85 stroke average).
"It was great to get ourselves into this position," head coach Brad Rickel said. "We have a young team and are getting great experience. This is what we need. We had a lot of good rounds this tournament and another fantastic finish from Quynn today."
Duong was the star for GU on Sunday, firing a one-under 70 to move into a tie for second place at four-under overall. She was second in the tournament with 13 total birdies.
Jessica Mangrobang also posted a Top 20 finish, landing in a tie for 17th after shooting a final round 74 (+3). She was three-over for the tournament.
Federica Torre placed in a tie for 21st with a 75 (+4) on the day and a four-over total, while Francesca Santoni rounded out the scoring for Gonzaga with a 75 (+4) and a 10-over tournament in 47th place.
Gonzaga will have nearly a month off from tournament play as they prepare to host the West Coast Conference Championships at Manito Golf and Country Club in Spokane on April 18-20. Links to live scoring are available at GoZags.com.
