Women’s Tennis Drops Match at No. 9 Pepperdine

Whittle led her match over No. 45-ranked player on No. 1
MALIBU, Calif. — Gonzaga women's tennis lost 4-0 on Friday afternoon in Malibu, Calif., to the ninth-ranked Pepperdine Waves.
Pepperdine (13-3, 4-0) controlled the action throughout doubles and singles on the way to the sweep over Gonzaga (7-9, 2-3).
The Waves took the doubles point with a pair of 6-0 wins on Nos. 2 and 3, then won five of six first sets on the six courts before taking the three points needed to clinch the match.
Gonzaga's ninth-ranked player Sophie Whittle led her opponent, No. 45 Ashley Lahey, 7-5, 2-3 when the match went unfinished.
The Zags stay in SoCal for tomorrow's match at Loyola Marymount at 11 a.m.
