
MGLF Returns to Wyoming Cowboy Classic

Zags return to event for 10th straight season
SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga men's golf team returns to the Wyoming Cowboy Classic for the 10th consecutive season Monday and Tuesday. The 54-hole tournament is back on the Cattail Course at the Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler, Ariz.
The University of Wyoming is hosting the 17th annual event on the Par-72, 7,218-yard course. The first 36 holes of the tournament will be played on Monday, with the final round on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs won the tournament in 2013 by six strokes. Peter Gullickson led GU with a seventh place finish. Sean Walsh shot one-under and placed 10th. Some of the Zags' best performances have come in the event, including the second-lowest 18 and 54-hole team-totals in program history. Walsh carded a program-low 65 in the 2014 Wyoming Cowboy Classic.
Last season at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, Nick Nolan led Gonzaga with an 11th place finish. The Zags placed eighth as a team at five-under (859). Nolan finished the tournament at four-under (212). He carded a 70 (-2) in the third and final round. GU went one-over (289) as a team in the final round. Sean Meehan led Texas-San Antonio to the team title. He took medalist honors at 11-under (205). UTSA was 22-under (842). The Roadrunners were six-under (282) in the third round.
This year's field includes Boise State, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, Gonzaga, Grand Canyon, Northern Colorado, Old Dominion, Santa Clara, Southern Utah, Stephen F. Austin, UC Davis, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, UT Arlington, UT Rio Grande Valley, Utah State, Utah Valley, Weber State, Wichita State and Wyoming. Individuals are also competing from Arizona State, the University of Colorado and the University of Denver.
The Bulldogs will be represented by Tyler Munetake, Chris Mogg, Grant Johnson, Nick Nolan and Matthew Ruel.
