Gonzaga Adds Texas A&M Transfer Admon Gilder

Graduate transfer immediately eligible to play

SPOKANE, Wash. –  Admon Gilder, a transfer from Texas A&M, signed a financial aid agreement to attend Gonzaga University and will join the men's basketball team for the 2019-20 season.

"Gonzaga has the same values that I have for myself and my family, Coach Few has for the entire program," Gilder said. "It felt like a family when I was there."

Gilder, a 6-4 200-pound guard, will graduate from Texas A&M. He will be immediately eligible to play as a graduate transfer.

"We are thrilled to have Admon join the program," Head Coach Mark Few said. "He is a great young man, that comes from a great family. He is a high-level guy, that brings a lot of experience. He is an all-around player that will be a great fit to our team. We are excited to have him as a Zag."

Gilder is No. 6 in ESPN's ranking of graduate transfers. He sat out last season with a blood clot in his right biceps. He's been cleared to return to basketball.

Gilder averaged 12.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 2017-18, helping Texas A&M reach the Sweet 16. He averaged 13.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists as a sophomore. He's started 58 of 98 career games.

Gilder joins a Bulldog squad that advanced to their fifth-straight Sweet 16, the longest active streak in the nation, before ending the season in the program's fourth Elite Eight. Gonzaga won 33 games, going 16-0 in West Coast Conference play, winning the league regular season title for the seventh straight season. The Zags welcome back a talented team in 2019-20, and multiple media outlets have ranked GU in the Top-10 in their early preseason projections.
