Bracket Revealed for Battle 4 Atlantis; Zags Play Southern Miss in Quarterfinals

Talented field begins play in quarterfinals Nov. 27

SPOKANE, Wash. –  The Gonzaga men's basketball team will open the 2019 Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis against Southern Mississippi on Nov. 27, at 4 p.m. Pacific Time on ESPNU.

The quarterfinal matchups feature Michigan taking on Iowa State and North Carolina squaring off against Alabama in the top half of the bracket, while the bottom half of the bracket will feature Gonzaga facing Southern Miss and Oregon playing Seton Hall.

The ninth edition of one of the most challenging early-season men's college basketball tournaments will take place Nov. 27-29. All 12 games will be played in Atlantis, Paradise Island's Imperial Arena, a 3,900-seat venue. Each game will be televised on ESPN family of networks and available to stream via the ESPN app.

The Zags and Southern Miss meet for the first time ever. The Golden Eagles went 20-13 last season, finishing in a tie for second in Conference USA at 11-7. GU is 6-0 all-time versus current members from Conference USA. The Bulldogs beat Western Kentucky in dramatic fashion in its latest matchup with a Conference USA member. Gonzaga used last second heroics to defeat WKU, 83-81, in the second round of the 2009 NCAA Tournament in Portland, Ore.

In its only other appearance in the event, Gonzaga won two of its three games in the 2015 Battle 4 Atlantis, beating Washington, falling to Texas A&M and then defeating Connecticut for third-place. Kyle Wiltjer represented Gonzaga on the 2015 All-Tournament Team.
