
New Top Ten Marks Ran in Seattle

Zag women and men have successful meet in Dempsey Center
SEATTLE – The Gonzaga women's and men's track teams had several new Top-10 program times at the UW Preview inside the Dempsey Center Saturday.
Aimee Piercy ran the fourth-fastest indoor 3,000-meter time in women's program's history. After climbing into the program's indoor 800-meter and mile Top-10 lists last week, she crossed the line at 9:47.18 Saturday. The redshirt junior ran a 10:08.06 at the same meet last year, which ranked 10th entering this season on the all-time list.
Piercy placed 36th overall in the event and eighth in her heat. Natasha Bernal was sixth in her heat with a time of 10:14.13.
In the women's mile, Ally Legard was 24th at 5:03.46, while Claire Gillett was right behind at 5:06.86 in 25th. Legard climbed from eighth to sixth all-time at GU. Gillett's time ranks seventh in program history. Alicia Anderson ran the ninth-fastest indoor mile in program history at 5:08.05.
In the men's 3,000 meters, Peter Hogan improved the program's sixth-best time at 8:13.20. He finished 20th overall in the event, and fourth in his heat. Evan Bates held off Dominic Arce and Cullen McEachern in the fourth heat. Bates crossed the line in first with a time of 8:18.60, which ranks ninth in program history. Arce (8:18.67) and McEachern (8:22.56) were second and third in the heat. Arce's time is 10th all-time at Gonzaga.
The Zags will send a group of runners to the Idaho Open Thursday. GU returns to the Kibbie Dome, where it opened the season last week.
