Gonzaga Welcomes Alyssa Charlston as Digital Media/Video Contributor
SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga welcomes Alyssa Charlston as a digital media and video contributor. Charlston will assist in telling the story of Gonzaga Athletics and student-athletes both on and off the court.
"I've worked closely with the Gonzaga Athletics family over the past three years as a local sports reporter, so I've experienced their friendliness and professionalism first-hand," Charlston said. "They truly operate at the same championship level as their teams. In a year where fans and alumni don't get to see the Zags play in person, I'm thrilled to help this innovative team to share the stories and personalities of Gonzaga's student-athletes with their passionate fanbase."
Charlston worked three-and-a-half years with KXLY/4 News Now where she worked as a sports reporter. Charlston's coverage included both the men's and women's basketball programs at Gonzaga along with all local and regional college sports coverage.
The Sammamish, Wash., native worked in a similar role of Digital Media/Video Correspondent for both the University of Washington and University of Idaho athletic departments. In her position, she was responsible for increasing digital content through player spotlights and interviews while creating more engagement for fans through social media.
Charlston graduated from Idaho in 2014 with a degree in broadcast and digital media following a successful four-year basketball career with the Vandals. The former forward was a three-time All-WAC performer—including two first team selections—and was a two-time Academic All-American. Charlston led the Vandals to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, and finished her career with 1,587 career points and 855 rebounds.
