"After graduating in December and passing the nurse licensing exam, I plan on continuing my education and becoming a nurse practitioner. I will begin applying to schools and plan to start in the fall of 2021.

For me, being an athlete at Gonzaga has meant becoming part of a family where everyone supports one another. Gonzaga has given me so many opportunities to grow, and it has helped shape me into the person I am today. I will be forever grateful for my coaches, teammates, professors, support staff, and friends that I have made throughout my journey, and I am proud to call myself a Zag."

It seems like yesterday Jenna was just starting in our program. She had such a great career, and grew so much as a leader and a player. Jenna is the kindest soul I have ever had the honor of coaching, with the best intentions of the team always on her mind. She is driven, encouraging, and competitive. Not many setters have come through our program and had the playing time and the impact Jenna had. It will be a new era without Jenna on the court next year, but the legacy she leaves is one of a focused, hardworking teammate.

"My plans after graduation are to take a gap year to work and then pursue my doctorate in physical therapy.

Gonzaga has been a place of growth for me. Even though I’ve gone through some of the most challenging times in my life at here, it’s made me who I am today."

A coach’s greatest dream is to see a player realize her potential. Payton is a warrior. She persevered through four years of hard work, setbacks with injury, and determination to always come back stronger. She is fearless, and led those around her by her example of being a great teammate. This past season was the most fun to experience Payton in her element. She had the confidence of a person who has done the work, the leadership that any coach would wish of their seniors, and she was the most physically capable I have seen her. I cannot believe how fast four years goes, but Payton made the most of it all.
