
Women’s Rowing to Host the Head of the Spokane on Saturday

The Zags will race against three universities

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga women's rowing team is hosting the Head of Spokane this Saturday for the second fall regatta of the season.
The regatta takes place on the Spokane River and begins at 9 a.m. There will be three flights of races and GU is set to compete in two of them.
In the first flight, the Bulldogs will have five boats racing. The next flight Gonzaga has competition is the third flight, which begins at 10:45 a.m. There will be five other boats for GU competing in the flight.
Gonzaga is set to go against Loyola Marymount University, Oregon State University and Washington State University.
With this being a head race, each boat will take off from the start one at a time with a 15 second gap between each boat.

LAST TIME OUT
In the first fall regatta of the season, Gonzaga women's rowing found themselves on the podium in the Collegiate 4+ race.
With 22 teams competing, the Zags came out on top with a time of 15:12.94. The time was a dominate performance as Alabama got second with a time of 15:18.41. Gonzaga fielded two boats in the race and the second boat placed 10th with a time of 16:08.40.
GU also had a boat in the Collegiate 8+ race, which placed fourth overall as the boat crossed the finish line at 14:01.28. Alabama claimed first with a time of 13:31.90 as 10 teams competed in the race.
