Duong in third place at even-par after first round
HENDERSON, Nev. — The Gonzaga women's golf team is in second place after the first round of the 2021 West Coast Conference Championships. The Zags' Quynn Duong is third on the individual leaderboard at the event at the Reflection Bay Golf Club.
The Bulldogs are nine-over (297) entering Day 2. GU is four strokes behind the leader, BYU, which is five-over (293). Pepperdine is in third at 11-over (299). Gonzaga leads the tournament at one-over (3.05) on the course's four Par-3 holes.
Following the first round, Duong is even-par (72). Her 14 pars match the second-most in the 25-golfer field. Cassie Kim is tied for fourth at one-over (73). She made four birdies and 10 pars.
Mary Scott Wolfe and Jessica Mangrobang are both tied for 10th at four-over (76). Mangrobang also made 14 pars in Round 1, while Wolfe made 12. Frederica Torre finished the round at eight-over (80).
BYU's Allysha Mae Mateo tops the leaderboard at two-under (70). She made a tournament-best six birdies on Day 1. Pepperdine's Caroline Hwang carded a 71 (-1) in the first round.
