Zags in 13th as a team in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Gonzaga women's golf team kicked off their five-tournament spring slate at The Show at Spanish Trail, hosted by UNLV. The tournament is a two-day affair and began with two rounds of play on Monday and will finish with Tuesday's final round. The tournament is being played at Spanish Trail Country Club.
Gonzaga is in 13th place at the end of day one, posting a team score of (592, +16). In the opening round, the Bulldogs combined to shoot 10-over (298), placing them in a tie for 11th place. In the afternoon round, GU shot six-over (294) as a team, dropping them down two spots on the team leaderboard, making a total of 113 pars and 23 birdies along the way.
Senior Quynn Duong led the way for Gonzaga, turning in scores of 72 (E) and 71 (-1) in her first two rounds of the spring season. She is in a tie for ninth place at one-under (143), making 24 pars and seven birdies on the day.
Chaewon Baek sits in a tie for 34th place at three-over (147) on the individual leaderboard heading into the final round on Tuesday. She carded a score of 70 (-2) in Round 1 and 75 (+3) in Round 2, combining for 22 pars and six birdies.
Cassie Kim is tied for 54th at six-over (150) after climbing 21 spots on the leaderboard in Round 2. She turned in scores of seven-over (79) and one-under (71), adding 22 pars and six birdies to her scorecard. Mary Scott Wolfe is tied for 62nd place at eight-over (152) after shooting 77 (+5) in the first round and 75 (+3) in the second round, making 23 pars and three birdies. Kaysa Panke (+17, 161) is in a tie for 83rd.
Nevada's Leah John (-9, 135) leads all individuals heading into the final round on Tuesday. UNLV's Nicole Lorup (-5, 139) is in second and four strokes behind. UNLV sits atop the team leaderboard at 17-under (559) and has four golfers in the top five on the individual leaderboard.
