The Bulldogs travel to Denver next Sunday, March 6

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- The Gonzaga men's tennis team opened up West Coast Conference play at the No. 38 University of San Diego and fell 4-0.

The team started off competitions in doubles with Sasha Trkulja and Matthew Hollingworth taking on the No. 43 duo, August Holmgren and Gui Osorio on court one, and fell 6-3. Leon Roider and Oliver Andersson competed on court two against Will Davies and Iiro Vasa and also came up short, 6-3.

The Bulldogs went into singles competition down 1-0 and competed hard before the Toreros clinched the match.

Trkulja competed at the No. 1 spot and lost to No. 8 Holmgren, 6-2, 6-1. Andersson was another match that completed as he fell 6-1, 6-2, to Sacchitt Sharrma in the No. 3 spot. Tom Hann's match on court five was the other match to finish as he fell 7-5, 6-3, to Alex Stater.

All the other singles matches went unfinished as the match was clinched at 4-0 for USD.

Records: Gonzaga is now 7-2 overall this season and 0-1 in the WCC. San Diego improves to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference.

Up Next: The Zags travel to Denver next Sunday, March 6. The match will begin at 11 a.m.
