No 21/21 WBB Hosts South Dakota State on Sunday

The Zags went 2-0 last week on the road

THE TIPOFF
- The Gonzaga women's basketball team returns home to host South Dakota State this Sunday, Dec. 17. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m.
- GU is coming off an 80-72 at Rice from Sunday, Dec. 9. Three Zags scored in double figures, led by Eliza Hollingsworth's 21 points. Yvonne Ejim scored 18 with Kaylynne Truong recording 15 points. Both Hollingsworth and Kaylynne Truong made four three-pointers in the game and Ejim led the team in rebounds with 10 to secure her fourth double double on the year.
- Five Zags are averaging double digits in scoring including Yvonne Ejim (19.9), Kayleigh Truong (13.4), Brynna Maxwell (13.4), Kaylynne Truong (11.8) and Eliza Hollingsworth (10.8).
- The Zags are 12th in the country in three-point percentage at 38.8 percent. GU's 47.8 field goal percentage also ranks 23rd. From the free throw line, GU is fifth with 81.9 percent.
- Kaylynne Truong is fourth in the nation in assists with 77 so far this year along with 18th in the country in assists per game with 6.4. Yvonne Ejim is second in the country in field goals with 103 scored this season and is also fifth in the nation in points scored this year with 239. Brynna Maxwell is 13th in the country in three-pointers made with 32 so far.
- Yvonne Ejim has been named the WCC Player of the Week three times this season. She was also ESPN's Player of the Week and the Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week (12/4). 
- Gonzaga is currently on a 24 home game winning streak, which ranks third in the country only behind UNLV (27) and South Carolina (46).
- Kaylynne Truong was one of 20 point guards in the country named to the Nancy Lieberman Award watch list. Brynna Maxwell was also one of 20 shooting guards in the country named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award watch list.
- Yvonne Ejim, Brynna Maxwell and Kaylynne Truong were named to the preseason watch list for the 2024 Becky Hammon Player of the Year Award. Gonzaga is the only team with multiple players on the watch list and becomes the first team to ever place three players on a single list.
- Lisa Fortier was recently named to the 2024 Kathy Delaney-Smith Coach of the Year Award preseason watch list. This year's watch list includes coaches from 16 conferences.
- The Bulldogs were picked to win the West Coast Conference this season by the league's coaches.
- Gonzaga has amassed a conference record of 274-34 (.889) during the last 18 seasons, which includes 17 West Coast Conference regular season titles and nine WCC Tournament championships.
- Graduate students Brynna Maxwell, Kayleigh Truong, Kaylynne Truong and senior Yvonne Ejim were named to the Preseason All-WCC Team. 
- The Zags won the West Coast Conference Regular Season Title for the 18th time in program history by going 17-1 in conference play last season.
- Last season, Gonzaga advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth-straight year under Lisa Fortier.

SERIES INFO: The Bulldogs and the Jackrabbits have met three times in program history and SDU has a 3-0 record over GU. Two of those games have also gone into overtime

FIRST MEETING: In 2009, SDSU defeated Gonzaga at home, 78-64.    
LAST MEETING: In 2021, GU fell to the Jackrabbits in overtime on the road, 75-72.    

SCOUTING THE JACKRABBITS
- The Jackrabbits are 6-3 on the season and most recently beat Dordt, 66-54, on Dec.12.
- Brooklyn Meyer leads SDSU in scoring and rebounding with 17 ppg and 9.8 rpg. She also has recorded a team-high 21 blocks on the year. 
- As a team, SDSU ranks ninth in the country in 3-point field goal percentage defense, limiting opponents to just 22 percent from deep.
- Against Dordt, Madison Mathiowetz poured in a career-high 21 points on the night. She was 8-for-14 from the floor with three 3-point baskets. Mathiowetz also grabbed five rebounds. She is the third Jackrabbit with a 20-plus-point game this season. Brooklyn Meyer also finished with 17 points at a .500 clip, 10 rebounds and four blocks. This is her second consecutive double-double and her fifth of the season.
