NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The Gonzaga women's tennis team concluded their nonconference dual schedule by defeating Tulane, 4-2, earlier this afternoon. This is the first matchup in program history between Tulane and Gonzaga.
For the first time this season, the match began with the singles competition due to poor future weather conditions. On court three, Tulane's Kristen Borland opened the match by cruising to a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Gonzaga's Kianna Oda. Gonzaga tied the match when Cate Broerman earned an impressive 6-2, 6-4 win over Tulane's Lahari Yelamanchili in the No.1 spot. Shortly after, Gonzaga's Jenna Sloan defeated Tulane's Jiayun Zhu by a score of 7-6, 6-2 on court four.
In the No.2 spot, Gonzaga earned their third team point when Adrianna Sosnowska won her match 6-4, 7-6 against Tulane's Adelaide Lavery. Tulane's Charlotte Russell reduced the lead when she defeated Gonzaga's Tiegan Aitken 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 on court five. In the final singles match, Gonzaga clinched the team victory when Rose Hayes earned a 7-6, 6-7, 6-0 victory against Tulane's Brooke Theis.
With Gonzaga having already clinched the team victory, the doubles competition was not played.
Up Next: Following today's match, the Gonzaga women's tennis team will travel to Provo, Utah, to face BYU on March 24th at 11 a.m. The Zags will return to Spokane on March 29th, when they are scheduled to face Santa Clara at 4 p.m. in the conference home opener.

Records: Gonzaga's season record improves to 9-6 with today's win. For Tulane, their record on the year drops to 5-8 following the loss. The match also moves the series record between the Zags and Green Wave to 1-0 in favor of Gonzaga.
