
Track Concludes Indoor Regular Season at Whitworth Invitational

Ten PRs headline final event before the outdoor season begins
SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga track wrapped up its final regular season meet of their 2023-24 indoor slate at the Whitworth Invitational on Saturday. In a split-squad weekend, the Zags earned ten PRs at The Podium on a busy Saturday.
Ireland Robertson and Tate Beasley picked up the first of the personal bests on the day in the women's mile, placing third (5:02.05) and seventh (5:11.84), respectively. The Zags placed five in the event's top ten.
The men also earned a pair of new bests as Jacob Alfonso (4:12.24) and Sean Janecko (4:25.37) each picked up heat wins in the mile. Alfonso, Nick Braz, and Carp Mukai placed top three, while Riley Moore took tenth.
In the women's 800m, Molly McGeoy and Emma Larson each won their heats with PRs of their own. McGeoy's 2:28.91 was a comfortable win in her 800m debut. Larson's victory came down to the wire as she edged the field for a 2:17.40 and second straight week with a PR.
The 3000m concluded with its final heats at the end of the day as Gonzaga picked up a combined four more PRs. Kate Ferrell (10:31.67) and Kendall York (10:13.09) set new bests with top ten finishes, while Samy Anderson (8:22.23) and Will Thorsett (8:23.76) went 2-3 in the men's event.
Gonzaga will pick back up when the outdoor season kicks off on March 16.
