SPOKANE, Wash. -- Head coach
D.J. Gurule has announced the additions of Nicholas Reeves and Diego Herrera.
"The addition of Nicholas and Diego in January will round out an amazing group of recruits for the 2025 season," Gurule said. "I am unbelievably excited to watch this team develop! We definitely have the right pieces in place!"
Diego Herrera
Herrera has a150 ITF junior ranking while also being ranked No. 2 nationally in Mexico. Originally from McKinney, Texas, his father Luis Herrera is one of the most successful professional Mexican tennis players in history s he ranked as high as No. 49 in the world ATP and made the third round of Wimbledon in 1992.
"I chose Gonzaga because of the great coaching staff and how everyone in Gonzaga seems so happy to be there," Herrera said.
"Diego is an unbelievable competitor and tennis player. His potential is untapped!" Gurule said. "Most importantly, he is a team player and fits in perfectly with the Gonzaga culture."
Nicholas Reeves
Reeves is a five-star recruit and the No. 1 ranked prospect in Washington and the Pacific Northwest. He is currently ranked No. 26 by TennisRecruiting.net. He recently made the quarterfinals of Easter Bowl in March.
"I love the atmosphere at Gonzaga and it instantly felt like home," Reeves said.
"Nicholas will make an instant positive impact on our program," Gurule said. "He was recruited by every top program in the country and we are extremely fortunate he chose the Zags. He is so passionate about our program and university I know he will be successful."
