BERKELEY, Calif. – The Gonzaga women's tennis team continued competition on Saturday at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships, collecting several strong results in both singles and doubles play.
In main draw singles, Elizabeth Tindera battled through a three-set win over Pacific, 6-4, 4-6, 7-5, before falling to Washington State, 6-2, 6-2. Emily Robertson also earned a first-round victory, defeating Fresno State, 6-1, 6-1, before coming up just short in a tight three-set match against Washington, 2-6, 7-5, 5-7. Brooke Bittner faced Sacramento State and fell 6-0, 6-2.
In other singles action, Karla Brown rallied for a 4-6, 7-6, 10-6 victory over Eastern Washington, while Ella Nielsen dropped a 6-4, 1-6, 4-10 decision.
The Zags also found success in doubles play. Robertson and Tindera teamed up for an 8-6 win, while Madeleine MacNeille and Nielsen dominated their match, 6-0. Bittner and Brown competed well but fell 6-4.
Competition continues tomorrow for Gonzaga in California.
