THE TIPOFF
- The Gonzaga women's basketball team hosts its season home opener this Thursday against Colorado State with a 6 p.m. tip.

- The Zags are coming off a 72-69 win at Toledo. Allie Turner and Lauren Whittaker both led the team with 16 points each.

- Gonzaga is currently ranked second in the country in three-point percentage at 57.1%. Indiviually, Allie Turner ranks ninth at 75% and Teryn Gardner is 21st at 66.7% from  beyond the arc.
- The Bulldogs were picked to finish second in the West Coast Conference in the preseason coaches poll. Sophomore Allie Turner and junior Zee Aukoso were named to the WCC Preseason Team as well.

- At Toledo, the Bulldogs were clutch from the free throw line, shooting at 94.1% and going 16-for-17 overall.

- Turner was recently named to the 2026 Becky Hammon Player of the Year Preseason Watch List. She was one of 25 players in the country to make the list.

- The Zags represent the last two WCC Freshman of the Year with Allie Turner winning it in 2025 and Zee Aokuso in 2024 during her time at Saint Mary's.

- Head coach Lisa Fortier currently sits at 291-74 in her career. Among active Division I coaches with at least five years at the level, she is currently ranked fifth in winning percentage (.797). Fortier is also now tied in second place on the WCC career coaching wins list with 171.

- Lisa Fortier and her three core assistant coaches (Stacy Clinesmith, Jordan Green and Craig Fortier) are 1 of 3 coaching staffs in the country to be together for 12+ years. The other two are Iowa State and UConn.

SERIES INFO: This will be the fourth matchup between the two teams. CSU leads 2-1.  

LAST MEETING: The Zags lost in overtime last season to Colorado State in Fort Collins, 74-72. The last time at home, GU won 50-39 in 2019. 

HOME OPENER SUCCESS: The Zags have won 21-straight home openers. 

SCOUTING THE RAMS

The Rams earned a pair of convincing wins at home last week to kick off the 2025-26 campaign, beating Weber State (75-58) and Long Beach State (73-34) in Moby Arena. 

-The Rams have led the nation in fewest turnovers per game each of the past four seasons, coughing it up just 8.7 times per game in 2024-25 which was the only mark below 10.5 in the country.

- Lexus Bargesser dropped a career-high 22 points in the season opener against Weber State and led CSU in scoring (19.5 points per game) across the opening week of the season while shooting 58.6%.
