The duo plays tomorrow in the consolation round
BERKELEY, Calif. – Gonzaga men's tennis opened play at the ITA Sectional Championships on Friday, as Giovanni Branchetti and Jay Fairclough battled in a tight doubles matchup before falling to BYU's TJ Wells and Caden Hasler, 6-7(2), 6-3.
The Bulldog duo pushed the Cougars to a first-set tiebreak and showed strong chemistry throughout the match but came up just short in the second set.
Gonzaga will continue play in Berkeley tomorrow, competing in the doubles consolation draw at the ITA Sectional Championships.
