BERKELEY, Calif. & SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga men's tennis opened a busy weekend of competition on Friday, splitting squads between the ITA Sectional Championships in Berkeley and the Gonzaga Invite in Spokane.
At the ITA Sectionals, Giovanni Branchetti and Jay Fairclough represented the Zags in doubles play, falling 8-5 to Cal's Bernardo Munk Mesa and Paris Pouatcha in a tightly contested match.
Back home in Spokane, several Bulldogs began play at the Gonzaga Invite. In singles, Diego Herrera earned a 6-4, 6-4 victory, while Gus Krauel, Oscar Rashed, and Tom Dunlop each battled through three-set matches. In doubles, Krauel and Herrera teamed up for an 8-4 win, and Dunlop and Rashed fell 8-4.
The Zags continue play at the Gonzaga Invite in the Stevens Center in Spokane tomorrow and Sunday.
