EL MACERO, Calif. – Gonzaga men's golf finished in 12
th place at the El Macero Classic hosted by UC Davis at the El Macero Country Club.
The Bulldogs rose two spots on the final day after a 14-over (302) third round. GU finished the three-day 54-hole event at 36-over (900).
Charlie Olson led the Zags with a 31
st place finish at seven-over (223). He carded a 71 (-1) in Round 2, the team's lowest round in the tournament. The freshman made eight birdies and 33 pars in the event.
Ethan Flynn and
Guillermo Polo Bodart both tied for 35
th at eight-over (224). Flynn was five-under (4.58) on the course's Par-5 holes and made nine birdies over 54 holes.
Daniel Nunez tied for 60
th at 13-over (229), while Bruce Chang was 21-over (237) in 81
st place.
Daniel Kim finished 30-over (246) as an individual.
San Francisco's Oscar Holm-Bredkjaer took medalist honors at six-under (210). Carlos Astiazaran of Pacific was second at four-under (212).
UC San Diego took the team title at one-over (865), with Saint Mary's (+2, 866) and Pacific (+3, 867) in second and third.
Gonzaga is at the West Coast Conference Championships next April 25-27. The annual postseason tournament will be at Green Valley Golf Course in Fairfield, Calif. Live scoring will be available on GoZags.com.
