COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Gonzaga men's golf team started the season with a second-place finish at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational on Monday. The Bulldogs had a team total of 851 (-13) at the event hosted by Air Force at the Eisenhower Golf Club.
In his collegiate debut,
Michael Vienneau led the Bulldogs with a tie for fifth at seven-under (209). The freshman had solid rounds of 70, 69, and 70.
The Zags demonstrated consistency throughout the tournament, improving from a 285 (-3) in the first round to a 280 (-8) in the second, before concluding with a 286 (-2) in the final round.
Charlie Olson also contributed significantly, tying for 18th place with a 2-under par total of 214. Olson improved each day of the23-team tournament, moving from an opening round of 73 to a 70 in the second and a 71 in the final round.
Guillermo Polo Bodart and
Ethan Flynn both tied for 42nd place at two-over (218).
Jayden Lizama tied for 57th at three-over (219).
In the individual tournament on the silver course,
Daniel Kim tied for 22
nd at one-over (217). He opened the event with a 71 (-1) in the first round and concluded with a 71 (-1).
