SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Lauren Whittaker of Gonzaga was recognized as the West Coast Conference Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week for the sixth consecutive week and ninth time overall this season after a career-high scoring effort and another double-double.

For the sixth straight week and ninth time this season,
Lauren Whittaker (Canterbury, New Zealand) has been recognized as the Freshman of the Week. She has collected 10 total weekly honors, as the forward was named West Coast Conference Player of the Week once as well. Whittaker's career-best 37 points last Thursday against Oregon State tied a program record for most points in a game and set the program record for most points in a game by a freshman. The point total is the most in a game by a West Coast Conference player since LMU's Naudia Evans also had 37 in a win over Washington State on Jan. 25, 2025. It's the most by a freshman in the conference since Tess Heal recorded 39 points for Santa Clara against BYU on Feb. 16, 2023.
Whittaker added 14 rebounds for her 11th double-double of the season, the most of any freshman nationally and tied for the 10th-most in the country overall. The freshman finished 12-of-26 from the field (.462) overall and was 12-of-14 (.857) from the free throw line in the overtime defeat to Oregon State. Whittaker leads the West Coast Conference in scoring (20.1 ppg), rebounding (10.3 rpg) and field goal percentage (.564).
