SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga women's basketball opened its 2026-27 campaign with a commanding 84-43 exhibition victory over Westmont Tuesday night at the McCarthey Athletic Center.
The Bulldogs used a balanced offensive attack and strong defensive effort to pull away from the Warriors. After a competitive opening quarter, Gonzaga found its rhythm offensively and began to take control.
The Zags carried their momentum into the second quarter, creating opportunities on both ends of the floor. Gonzaga's defensive pressure limited Westmont's offensive production, while efficient shooting and strong play in the paint helped the Bulldogs build a comfortable advantage heading into halftime.
Gonzaga continued to dominate following the break, putting together a strong offensive quarter in the third. The Bulldogs moved the ball effectively and capitalized on opportunities in transition to extend their lead. Strong defensive execution continued to disrupt the Warriors, allowing Gonzaga to maintain control throughout the second half.
The Bulldogs showcased their depth throughout the exhibition contest, with all 12 players seeing action and contributing to the victory.
Up Next: Gonzaga officially opens the 2026-27 regular season on Monday, Nov. 2, hosting North Dakota State at 6 p.m. inside the McCarthey Athletic Center.
