SPOKANE, Wash. – Following the retirement of longtime radio broadcaster Steve Myklebust, Gonzaga Athletics has announced Davis Hagen as the new radio play-by-play voice of the Gonzaga women's basketball program.
Hagen succeeds Myklebust, who retired after 22 years as the radio voice of Gonzaga women's basketball. Hagen will take over broadcasting duties as the Bulldogs enter a new era in their first season as members of the Pac-12 Conference. Fans can listen to Gonzaga women's basketball broadcasts on 101.5 FM throughout the season.
"I am beyond grateful to begin this next chapter of my career at a place with a community that is second to none," Hagen said. "I am so excited to begin this new era of Gonzaga women's basketball and be there to tell the story of this incredible team."
"We are grateful for Steve's 22 years of dedication to Gonzaga women's basketball and excited to welcome Davis to the Gonzaga family," said Mark Livingston, General Manager of Learfield at Gonzaga. "Davis brings great energy and passion, and we look forward to having him tell the story of the Bulldogs as they enter a new era in the Pac-12."
Hagen joins Gonzaga with experience calling collegiate athletics across the Inland Northwest, including Division I basketball, football, volleyball, soccer and tennis.
A graduate of Washington State University, Hagen served as the sports director for KUGR Radio from August 2024 through May 2026. During his time in Pullman, he provided play-by-play commentary for Washington State football, men's and women's basketball, volleyball, soccer, lacrosse and baseball. He also oversaw the student radio station's sports broadcasting division, helping develop broadcasters through structured feedback and training.
Hagen has also worked as a freelance play-by-play broadcaster and color analyst for ESPN+, covering Idaho Vandals men's and women's basketball, volleyball, soccer and tennis. Additionally, he has provided play-by-play coverage for Pullman High School athletics through Pullman Radio, including football, baseball and boys' and girls' basketball.
Since August 2025, Hagen has worked as a broadcast intern with Playfly Sports, assisting with broadcast operations for Washington State Athletics. His responsibilities have included publishing coaches shows and full-game replays, managing broadcast scheduling and coordinating travel logistics for on-air talent.
In 2025, Hagen received the KUGR Keith Jackson Award for Excellence in Sports Broadcasting. He earned his bachelor's degree in journalism and media production from Washington State, with a minor in sports communication.
Fans will have their first opportunity to hear from Hagen this Saturday, Oct. 10, during Gonzaga women's basketball's FanFest at the McCarthey Athletic Center. The event is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., with fans able to tune in to the broadcast on 101.5 FM for an early look at the Bulldogs ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
