SPOKANE, Wash.- Gonzaga Men's Cross Country Track and Field head coach Pat Tyson announced the addition of two more future Zags out of Oregon on Friday. Liam Donnelly will join the Zags by way of Portland, while Lucas Franck is joining the Zags out of Beaverton. Tyson also highlighted the acccomplishments of Gonzaga signee Dylan Rowell at the Indoor Track National Championship
Franck will join the Zags after finishing his spring track season at Mountainside High School. He holds the Mountainside records in the 1500 meters and 3000 meters with respective times of 3:59.07 and 8:33.85. He finished 8th in Oregon in the 3000 meters at the State 6A meet last spring. Franck also holds his school's record in Cross Country, clocking a time of 15:02.3 in the 5k. He finished 30th overall at the Nike Cross Country Northwest Championship.
Franck says he chose to join GU "because of the culture that Coach Tyson has built and the chance to keep improving in a competitive environment. Gonzaga's balance of strong academics, high level running and shared values makes it a great place for me to grow as both a student and as an athlete."
Donnelly, running for Jesuit High School, holds a personal best time of the 1:59.54 in the 800 meters. He has personal best times of 4:00.87 in the 1500 meters, and has been a key part of relays ranging from 4x400 to the 4x1 Mile relays while at Jesuit.
Donnelly said that he is "looking forward to having the opportunity to train alongside teammates that will push me to improve every day. I also believe Gonzaga is the right place for me academically, as it offers a great Jesuit education that will challenge me in the classroom just as much as on the track. I'm excited to be a part of the program that values hard work, personal growth and team success!"
Coach Tyson described both runners as "Great students and top runners", adding that "They'll both develop very well in our program. We look forward to them joining us in Spokane after finishing their careers in prep running in Oregon!" Â
Additionally, another future Zag made headlines this week, with Dylan Rowell being named an All-American in the 5k. He finished seventh at Nike Indoor Track Nationals, running a career best time of 14:29. Rowell, out of Anacortes, Washington, will also be joining the Zags in the 2026-2027 season after wrapping up his All-American caliber high school track season in the spring.
