The Zags stay home this week

Returning to the Stevens Center, the Zags took on the Denver Pioneers for a Wednesday match, which left the Zags in a defeat, 7-0.

Playing in doubles for the Zags, Jay Fairclough and Giovanni Branchetti took court one with a 6-4 lead. Oscar Rashed and Nicholas Reeves came up short against Denver, 6-2. And Diego Herrera and Gus Krauel battled in a tiebreaker on court three; unfortunately, the Pioneers took the doubles point 7-6 (7).

Oscar Rashed fought hard on court two against his opponent, Samuel Rovai, but came up short in two sets, 6-2 and 7-5. Junior Tom Dunlop also put up a good battle; Dunlop was defeated 6-4 and 6-2. Giovanni Branchetti had an impressive match against Pioneers Theo Coats, which went to three sets. Branchetti took the first set 6-4, before dropping in the next two sets 6-1 and 6-3.

Jay Fairclough brought some momentum in his three sets, losing the first one 6-4, coming back in the second set 7-5, before dropping to Denver 6-0. Nicholas Reeves kept up the competition on court four against Ryoma Mishiro, losing the first set 6-2, taking the second 7-5, before coming up short in the third 6-3. On court six, Diego Herrera was pitted against Denver's Aaron Beduhn. Herrera lost his first set 6-4, taking the second one 7-5, dropping to Beduhn in the last set 6-3.

The competition will continue for the Zags as they will take on Santa Clara this Friday, March 27th, at the Stevens Center. The match will begin at 2 pm.
