SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Gonzaga men's tennis team took the court against the Santa Clara Broncos falling short 4-1.
The doubles courts sparked early momentum for the Zags with duo Nicholas Reeves and Oscar Rashed taking the first lead for the Bulldogs, 6-3. Jay Fairclough and Giovanni Branchetti secured the doubles point in a tiebreaker, 7-6.Â
As for singles play, Zags Tom Dunlop battled through two sets against Santa Clara's Valentin Faure but came up short 6-3Â in both sets. Oscar Rashed also put up a solid performance on court one, Rashed dropped to the Broncos 6-4Â and 6-3. Bulldogs Diego Herrera faced a competitive match up against Luca Bluett, unfortunately Herrera lost the momentum in two sets, 7-6Â and 6-1. Giovanni Branchetti fought through three sets losing the first one 7-6, taking the second one 6-1 and losing the last one 6-1.Â
The Zags will close out the week of matches at the Stevens Center this Sunday March 29th against San Diego, and that match will start at 11am.Â
