The Gonzaga women's tennis team battled it out against Portland, staying neck to neck, before falling short 4-3.
The Zags started off with a strong lead in taking the doubles point. Back on court one is
Emily Robertson and
Ella Nielsen, who swept the court in a 6-2 victory.
Rose Hayes and
Sveva Zerpelloni also took charge with a 6-4 victory over Portland.
Senior
Brooke Bittner kept the momentum up, adding another point for the Zags in singles, with a 6-3 lead in the first set, before capturing the win 6-0.
Elizabeth Tindera also showcased a strong lead on court five, winning 6-2 and 6-4.
Gonzaga lost the momentum in singles in a close matchup.
Emily Robertson fell short to her opponent Alaia Rubio Perez, 6-1 and 6-2. Senior
Diana Yanotovskaya battled through two sets before dropping to Portland, 6-2 and 6-3.
Sveva Zerpelloni couldn't find traction against Nadine Arbraizar Martinez, in a 6-3 loss for both sets. Senior
Rose Hayes pushed her opponent in a tight singles match, losing the first set 6-3. Hayes claimed the second set in a tiebreaker 7-6, before falling short in the last set 6-2.
The Zags will close out their last home game tomorrow against Seattle U. The match will begin around 1 pm.
