
Women’s Tennis Finishes Cal Poly Hidden Dual

The Zags Will Play in the ITA Regional Championships Oct. 8-11

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Gonzaga women's tennis team wrapped up competition at the Cal Poly Hidden Dual on Sunday afternoon.
In singles matches, Emily Robertson defeated Saint Mary's Stella Remander with a commanding 6-2, 6-1 outcome. Ella Nielsen had a tough three-set match with the Gaels' Syndey Wilson and came out victorious with a final score of 2-6, 6-4, 7-5. Madeleine MacNeille and Sia Cariov also had three-set battles against Elif Tuana Gunal (SMC) and Sofia Daryaie (SMC), but ultimately fell 7-6(5), 1-6, 6-4 and 6-3, 4-6, 6-1, respectively.
Angelina Hug also competed in the third day with a match against the Gaels' Priya Nelson and fell, 6-4, 7-5. Kelsey Phillips wrapped up the competition for the Bulldogs with a match against Mahi Khore (SMC). Saint Mary's won the match, 7-6(6), 6-1.
The Bulldogs had three matches in doubles on the final day as well. All against Fresno State, the women dominated and came out with wins in all three. Cariov and MacNeille ended their match with a strong 6-1 score, Robertson and Hug won 6-2, and Nielsen and Phillips finished doubles play with a 6-4 triumph.
