Biography
Senior (2023-24): Opened the season in the No. 6 seat for the JV8 boat and the stroke seat for the 2V4+ boat at the Head of the Spokane, where both crews secured third-place finishes, JV8 (15:53) and 2V4+ (17:39)… Competed in the same boats at the Head of the American, placing sixth with the JV8 boat (16:09.9) and fifth with the 2V4+ boat (17:47.6)… Earned a promotion to the V8 boat for the San Diego Fall Classic, where the crew took third place (14:09.391)… Led the 2V8 boat to a first-place finish (6:26.702) on the first day of the San Diego Crew Classic, followed by a second-place finish (6:27.460) on the second day… Helped the 2V8 boat secure second place at the Occoquan Challenge (6:05.48)… Played a key role in the 2V8 boat’s first-place finish against Washington State, contributing to the Bulldogs’ Fawley Cup victory… Concluded the season in the V8 boat at the Western Sprints, finishing third overall with a time of 6:06.060.
2021-22: Started the season rowing in the No.4 position for the Varsity 8 team, where he helped Gonzaga earn a first-place finish at the Head of the Snake event… Also participated in the Head of the Lake event in Seattle, where the Varsity 8 team earned a third-place finish with a time of 10:27.387… Transitioned to the Junior Varsity 8 team at Oregon State University, where he helped Gonzaga earn a time of 6:22.6 and a second-place finish…
2020-21: Started season with the Second Varsity 8 team, finishing with times of 6:23.91 and 6:35.92 against St. Joe’s and Drexel... Finishing second with a time of 6:15.7, helped Gonzaga compete in their 5th consecutive Fawley Cup…Moved to 1st Varsity 8 team, where he competed in the Western Sprints, earning a time of 6:00.36, and the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Championship, winning the 5th Finals with a time of 06:34.672…
High School: Graduated from Oak Harbor High School…ran track and cross country for four years and swam for three…made varsity team for all three years and was the swim team captain from 2018-2020.
Personal: Son of Douglas and Susan Lof…has two sisters, Katherine and Elizabeth…father Douglas rowed for the United States Naval Academy, competing at the IRA Nationals in 1992… majoring in Political Science and International Relations with career aspirations of becoming an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps…attended the Navy Crew Camp for Boys winning the Gatorade Leadership Award…chose Gonzaga for the academics and varsity rowing team.
