Biography

Senior (2020-21): WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention Singles: Played at both No. 4 and No. 6 singles on the season…posted a 5-6 overall mark with two matches left unfinished…all five of his victories came in straight sets with two tiebreakers…Doubles: Finished with a 6-1 overall record on the year, opening the season with a five-match win streak at No. 3 doubles…picked up five victories with partner Matthew Perkins.

2019-20 (Junior): WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention Singles: Collected a 6-2 overall record in singles play, including a perfect 2-0 mark in the dual season…opened the fall slate with back-to-back singles wins at the Eastern Washington Fall Classic…earned two singles wins in consolation play at the ITA Northwest Regionals, defeating Santa Clara’s Nick Cmager in straight sets followed by a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Seattle’s Lars Schmassmann…opened the spring slate with a 7-6, 6-0 win over EWU’s Wout Doumen…also collected a win over Seattle’s Alex Chan, 6-1, 6-0. Doubles: Paired with five different Zags in doubles play, most often with Oliver Andersson…posted a combined record of 4-5, including a 2-2 mark in dual play…opened the spring season with back-to-back victories at the No. 2 and 3 positions, pairing with Kyle Everly for a 6-3 victory over EWU’s Doumen and Grimes…defeated Boise State’s Bott and Papadopoulos 6-4 on Feb. 9.

2018-2019 (Sophomore): WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention. Singles: 11-10 overall on the season…3-3 record in WCC play…started off the dual season with three wins at the Dar Walters Classic at Boise State…claimed his first win of the dual season against Idaho State’s Fynn Lohse, 6-7 (4-7), 6-2, 6-1…opened WCC play with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) win over BYU’s Matthew Pearce…continued on to a four-match winning streak with wins at San Francisco, at UC Davis and at home against Pepperdine. Doubles: 12-10 on the year in doubles matches…partnered primarily with Kyle Egger at a record of 11-9 overall and 3-4 in conference play…defeated John Carter and Derek Simonsen of Whitman 6-1 playing with Vincent Rettke at the Dar Walters Fall Classic…Pair with Kyle Everly to go 2-1 at the Gonzaga Invitational with wins over Utah and Montana…started the spring season off with four straight wins…went on to defeat Phuc Huynh and Ryan Marker 6-2 at San Francisco…ended the regular conference season with a 6-2 win over Portland’s Leo Hibi and Issa Yoshida 6-2.

2017-18 (Freshman): Singles: Competed in 14 matches on the season, finishing with a 6-8 overall record…finished 1-0 at No. 2, 2-4 at No. 3 and 3-4 at No. 4 singles…started the spring slate with five-straight wins, all in two sets…picked up his first collegiate win with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Kincaid Norris of Whitworth on Jan. 20…finished 1-7 in league play…led Pepperdine’s Brian Berdusco 6-3, 5-2 at No. 4 singles when the match went unfinished...clinched the 4-2 match win for Gonzaga over Saint Mary’s on April 14 with a three-set victory over Matis Bot, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2. Doubles: Finished 5-8 overall on the season...paired with Matthew Perkins, Sam Feit and Simon Homedes Dualde over the course of the season, but competed most often with Homedes Dualde…won the first four doubles matches of the season, including a 7-6(3) battle against Daniel Foster and Chase Friedman of Whitman College on Jan. 20…finished 1-4 in WCC play…clinched the doubles point against San Francisco with a 6-4 win over USF’s Ryan Marker and Johan Joenhagen on March 30.

Bellevue High School: Played tennis two years at Bellevue High...won state doubles championship in 2015 and earned First Team All-KingCo honors for the Wolverines.

Other Experience: Reached semifinals of 2017 Seattle City Open...won VTC Boys Winter Level Four 18 Singles draw in February 2017...ranked third-best recruit from Washington, sixth-best from the Northwest by TennisRecruiting.net.

Personal: Parents are Nadine and Philip...has four siblings: Rachel, Grace, Adrian, and Emmett...sister Grace played tennis at George Washington, and brother Emmett played tennis at the University of Washington...majoring in political science.
