Prior to Gonzaga
-Â Having been a four-sport athlete his senior year, and only having run track his senior year, James has a unique surprise factor and tremendous amounts of untouched potential. Powers attended Williston High School in Williston, North Dakota. Having run six years of cross country and only one year of track, he has run personal best of 16:22 in the 5k. Throughout his high school career, he helped his team to a state title in 2018 as well as runner-up finishes in 2016, 2017, and 2019.
Personal
-Â As a member of the Gonzaga University class of 2025, James plans on majoring in Sports Management. He has always had a passion for sports. Having a dad with a successful cross country and marathon background, and mom with an athletic background as well, James fell in love with everything dealing with athletics. After his cross-country career at Gonzaga, James plans to continue running in hopes of qualifying for races such as the Boston Marathon.
