Kelly Needs joined the Gonzaga University Sports Medicine staff as an assistant athletic trainer with sports medicine responsibilities for the women’s soccer and men’s tennis teams.
Prior to Gonzaga, Needs worked as an intern athletic trainer at the University of Florida serving primarily for women’s tennis and assisting with women’s basketball. She worked in the same roles the previous two years as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Florida as well.
During the 2012 NFL season, Needs worked as a preseason athletic training intern with the Buffalo Bills during training camp and all preseason games. She was responsible for assisting the athletic training staff with daily medical treatments, long-term injury rehabs and setup for practices and preseason games. She also worked with the University of Utah football team during the 2011 and 2012 seasons as an athletic training student.
Needs graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor of science degree in athletic training in 2013 and went on to earn a master’s degree in applied physiology and kinesiology with a focus in athletic training Florida in 2015. She also holds a Performance Enhancement Specialist certification.
In her spare time, she enjoys boating with family and friends, cooking, skateboarding, and playing guitar with fellow GU athletic trainer Kylee Gehring.
