Biography
2018-2019 (Junior): ITA Scholar Athlete. Singles: 2-5 overall on the season…claimed a 5-7, 6-0, 10-3 victory against Seattle’s Hannah Grossman in the round of 16 of the Bulldog Invite…defeated Chloe Gavino of New Mexico State 7-5, 2-6, 6-4, in the first round of the Gonzaga invitational. Doubles: Teamed up with Domonique Garley and Kate Ketels to go 7-2 on the year…went 3-0 in the Bulldog Invite with Garley by her side…Along with Ketels went 1-2 at the ITA Northwest Regionals…tallied three wins with Ketels at the Gonzaga Invitational.
2017-18: Singles (Sophomore): Finished 3-3 overall on the season…defeated Seattle’s Audrey Scott 6-3, 6-4 to open the season in the quarterfinals of the Bulldog Invitational…also defeated Eastern Washington’s Moriah Austin, earning a 6-1, 6-3 consolation victory…final win of the season came against Montana State’s Sarah Cheverie with a 6-1, 6-0 win at the Gonzaga Invitational. Doubles: Teamed up with Alex Bourguignon to go 2-1 on the season in doubles play…picked up both doubles wins at the Bulldog Invitational, advancing to the final before falling to teammates Graciela Rosas and Haruna Tsuruta.
2016-17: Singles (Freshman): 5-3 overall in singles play...first collegiate win came Oct. 9 versus Incarnate Word's Rachel Sadiq 6-4, 6-0...claimed bracket title at Bulldog Invite with three two-set wins Nov. 4-6...beat Idaho's Claire Yang once more at Gonzaga Invitational. Doubles: 3-3 overall in doubles play...with Haruna Tsuruta, won first collegiate match Oct. 8 versus NSU's Litvinova/Avram...also beat Abilene Christian's Henry/Ryan 6-4 at SMU Invite Oct. 10...at Bulldog Invite, beat Montana's Carbo/Joanlanne 6-2 on Nov. 5.
Lake Oswego High School: Played No. 1 singles all four years at Lake Oswego…led Lakers to first state title as a senior, the school’s first since 1992…claimed 6A doubles championship while going undefeated as a senior…also finished second at State in singles play as a junior…reached state tournament all four years…named First Team All-State during junior and senior years…won two district titles…led team to 64-0 record in district play over four years…named Outstanding Athlete of the Year and Team Captain in 2016…also a member of the National Honors Society and Spanish National honors Society…earned spot on Honor Roll throughout high school...finalist in DECA and received 2016 Choral Service Award.
Other Experience: Practiced out of Portland High Performance Tennis in Portland…Top 3 player in Oregon, Top 5 player in the Pacific Northwest…played on Pacific Northwest Zonals Team in 2014…won multiple USTA Pacific Northwest Junior tournaments, including a Level 4 doubles championship in 2014, a Level 3 Doubles Championship in 2015, and is a two-time Lewis and Clark Classic singles champion.
Personal: Parents are Molly and Shaun…has two siblings named Libby and Brandon…has two collegiate tennis players in the family: uncle Mark Onustock played at Washington and cousin Megin Moore played at Pepperdine…majoring in business and wants to work in sports marketing after graduation…chose Gonzaga for “its strong sense of community, faith based foundation, reputable academic and business programs, intimate campus setting, and of course the amazing tennis coaching staff and team. Ultimately, Gonzaga felt like home when I first stepped on campus. After spending time with the coaches and my future teammates, I knew Gonzaga was the right choice for me.”
