Gonzaga volleyball head coach Katie Wilson announced the hiring of Megan Cycyota as an assistant coach in July of 2024.
Cycyota joins the GU staff with 18 years of volleyball coaching experience across varying levels. Most recently, Cycyota spent 11 years with Sudden Impact Volleyball Club in Bellevue, Wash., as both an assistant and head coach. Throughout her time with Sudden Impact, more than 15 of Cycyota's athletes went on to play at various levels in college, including two future All-Americans and one of Gonzaga's latest newcomers for 2024, Krista Kostoff.
Sudden Impact has grown across the Puget Sound Region since 2000, producing a multitude of collegiate athletes including former Zag Alisa Kim, who recently concluded her career at Gonzaga as one of 15 members in the Bulldogs' 1,000 digs club.
In addition to joining Sudden Impact in 2012, Cycyota spent seven seasons as an assistant coach with Lakeside and Seattle Preparatory. During six seasons at Seattle Prep, the Panthers made three straight WIAA State Tournament runs, winning the title in 2010 while sandwiching a fourth-place finish in 2009 and a third-place finish in 2011. During that stretch, Seattle Prep won two Sea-King District Championships and two Metro League Championships.
Cycyota graduated from Seattle University in 2007 with a degree in Business Administration, majoring in Accounting. She and her husband Hank will make the move to Spokane with their two children, Lucy (6) and Connor (4), and will join her sister and brother-in-law who currently reside in Spokane and are Gonzaga alumni.
