EWU Rebounds With 3-0 Win Over Gonzaga Volleyball

CHENEY, Wash. - The No. 17-ranked Eastern Washington Eagles (21-1) rebounded from their first loss of the season on Tuesday night with a 3-0 victory over the visiting Gonzaga Bulldogs (4-16). EWU won 30-24, 30-27 and 30-18.
Janelle Ruen led the Eagles with 11 kills as EWU combined for a .310 attack percentage and 51 kills during their 12th straight win over the Bulldogs. Andrea Verdolujak chipped in 11 digs to lead EWU's defensive effort.
Jamie VanMeetren and Christina Davis each hammered home double-digit kills to keep the Bulldogs in contention in the first two games. VanMeetren finished with a .290 attack percentage and 12 kills while Davis had 11 kills. Heather Signor turned in the Zags top defensive effort with 10 digs.
Gonzaga returns to action on Saturday night when the Bulldogs host Portland in West Coast Conference action. Start time is 7 p.m. at Martin Centre.
