Volleyball Drops Cougar Classic Finale To Nevada, 3-0

PULLMAN, Wash. - Gonzaga dropped to 0-3 on the season as the Bulldogs dropped the final match of the Les Schwab Cougar Challenge to Nevada (2-1). The Wolf Pack won the contest 30-21, 30-25, 30-25. The Bulldogs will look to crack the win column on Monday night as head coach Kip Yoshimura makes his home debut at 5 p.m. against Montana.

Nevada had the early run in the second game building a 7-2 lead before Gonzaga could rally. Cullen had four kills as the Zags closed to within 20-19. Kelli Burton, a transfer from Arizona, then connected on back-to-back kills to help the Wolf Pack seal the game.
GU was determined not to go down easy as they built a 12-8 lead on a combination of Jamie VanMeetren and Kari Vagstad kills. Nevada worked back into the lead and pulled away on back-to-back service aces by Christine Harms.
Cullen led the Bulldogs with 11 kills and six blocks. Missy Perry had 30 assists in her first collegiate start at setter. More continued her tournament dominance with 18 kills and five service aces. Harms finished with three aces and nine kills.
Nevada and Gonzaga will meet again later this season in the Coors Classic at Colorado State.
