SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University women's tennis coach Alisha Woodroof has announced the signing of Amanda Becker to play tennis for the Bulldogs in the 2004-05 academic year. Becker, a native of Lakeville, PA, is currently training in Florida.

"Amanda has one of the strongest work ethics that I've seen in an incoming freshman. She is just beginning to come into her own and I know that her best tennis is still to come," said Woodroof.

Becker holds a national ranking by the United States Tennis Association of No. 239, making her eligible to participate in the top junior events in the nation. Becker is a left-handed baseline player, known for her tenacity on the court.

"I'm very excited to get such a high quality person and tennis player," said Woodroof. "Amanda will be critical to our success since five of our players graduate this year."
